About Our Client

The objective of this reform is to develop a new single Act that has not been changed for 50 years. Ad hoc and frequent legislative amendments have struggled to keep pace, and has created a patchwork of overlapping, and at times inconsistent and incompatible parts. This has created challenges for law enforcement and security agencies that have a legitimate need to exercise surveillance powers to keep the Australian community safe.

Job Description

• Manage a caseload of participants, including regular monitoring and communication.
• Assess application evidence against program requirements specified in guidelines and internal procedures.
• Undertake independent research and verification tasks, telephone and email contact with participants and employers and reviewing and processing documentary evidence.
• Mentor and supervise junior team members.
• Prepare research and policy advice in relation to skills assessments and skilled migration.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
• Use evidence from analysis, research, and evaluations to inform policy thinking around legislation, including by making recommendations about potential improvements and help deliver strategic projects

The Successful Applicant

• Previous experience in an EL1 or equivalent position
• You are able to interpret and apply federal legislation.
• You are highly organised, process driven, attentive to deadlines and understand legal processes.
• Formal legal qualifications (desirable but not mandatory).
• You will undertake work that is complex in nature to support the strategic planning and achievement of outcomes.
• You are a strong communicator, are able to establish and maintain networks with key stakeholders.
