This is a casual opportunity for a period of six (6) months less two (2) days, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

Who we’re looking for – maybe it’s you

As a Climate Change Indigenous Partnership Coordinator, you will inform how the Government of Yukon can strengthen relationships with Yukon First Nations and transboundary Indigenous groups, and work together to support climate action. The incumbent will engage with territorial and Indigenous government staff and knowledge holders, and recommend ways for weaving together Indigenous worldviews, scientific research, local knowledge, and policy. This role will help position Yukon’s Our Clean Future strategy to continue to build linkages with climate initiatives led by Yukon First Nations and transboundary Indigenous groups.

Essential Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree related to natural resources management, political science, environmental science, geography, public administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis in a government setting.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Experience in program planning and/or development.
  • Experience working with Yukon First Nations or transboundary Indigenous organizations.

Candidates who have post-secondary coursework in office or business administration, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

  • Creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of Yukon First Nation’s culture, perspectives and history.
  • Ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external partners.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze information and draft decision making documents.
  • Ability to plan, manage and implement projects and.
  • Working knowledge of climate change in a northern context.
