Manager, Fundraising, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSR) Job Details:

Position Summary

Responsible for leading the design and execution of the RCMSAR fundraising strategy in a Province-wide cohesive and

coordinated manner. Engage with prospective donors or grant makers to cultivate and nurture those relationships. Develop

an effective system of portfolio management.

Duties and responsibilities

• Develops and operationalizes a comprehensive fundraising program that includes grant writing, annual and monthly giving, corporate giving, major gifts and legacy giving.
• Develops a systematic plan for researching and identifying prospective donors applying ethical fundraising techniques.
• Develops and manages a portfolio of prospective donors.
• Leads efforts in managing relationships with existing or established corporate and private donors.
• Develops a donor recognition component of the fundraising program.
• Manages RCMSAR cases for support for use with potential donors.
• Develops an effective system of managing the donor portfolio, ensuring donor records are maintained.
• Evaluates effectiveness of fundraising program activities and initiate improvements as required.
• Contributes to the RCMSAR communications strategy, inclusive of potential media engagement.
• Works with local stations on developing marketing materials.
• Leads and executes RCMSAR’s digital and email marketing strategy.
• Manages RCMSAR’s social media accounts to improve and maintain RCMSAR’s positive image consistent with the organization’s branding and awareness strategic priorities; collaborates with local stations’ social media lead volunteers.
• Attends local events and boat shows that feature RCMSAR.
• Develops the annual fundraising plan including fundraising program budget.
• Conducts administrative duties such as gift processing, printing/sending tax receipts.

Requirements

Experience

• Five years’ experience in fundraising or a related field.
• Ability to manage sponsorship and gift-giving programs.
• Experienced in building successful relationships with donors and supporters.
• Understanding of corporate social media.
• Experienced in program financial management.

Credentials/Certifications – Preferred

• Completion of an undergraduate degree in a field related to fundraising.
• Knowledge of search and rescue, public safety, and boating safety.
• Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification.
• Knowledge in the use of donations management systems/CRM (Keela) and application of social media (e.g.)
• Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Threads etc.) including website updates (Word Press).
• Adept with the suite of Microsoft Office applications.

General Conditions

• Travel will be a requirement; a valid driver’s license is required.
• The geographical location for this position is preferred at RCMSAR headquarters located in Sooke BC. However, there is flexibility in locations with preference given to southern Vancouver Island or the lower mainland.
• The successful candidate will require a Police Information Check c/w a Vulnerable Sector Search.
