PRT/IFCO Seedlings operates a diverse network of nurseries in Canada and the United States enabling us to grow a wide variety of high-quality container forest seedlings for all climatic and site conditions. Annual production of 630 million seedlings makes PRT/IFCO the largest producer of forest seedlings in North America. We operate 5 bareroot nurseries across the South and 23 containerized operations.

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Windsor Container Nursery Supervisor will have responsibilities in all day to day operations associated with container seedling production. Assisting the Nursery Manager in strategic planning and implementation of seed stratification, sowing, fertilization, irrigation, crop management, and harvest. Once the seedling crops is established, you will assist in all cultural activities involved in the production of a quality seedling crop, (i.e. irrigation management, pesticide/fertilizer applications, seedling inventories, and various other specialized cultural activities.). With the arrival of fall, your focus will turn to finalizing inventories, strong customer communications, managing a contract labor force, seedling harvest, and logistics. Equipment, buildings, and grounds must be maintained at all times to prevent downtime, unscheduled maintenance, and foster good housekeeping. This position requires very little overnight travel. A few annual meetings will be required.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

The ideal candidate will have:

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Working knowledge of pine seedling nursery/agricultural operations, horticulture, equipment, irrigation, fertility, and pesticides
Strong people management skills, strong verbal and written communication skills;
Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
Customer driven and oriented.
