Open Pit Production Geology Technician (Fly-In Fly-Out) Job Details:

Reporting to the Production Geology Coordinator, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Manage tasks as assigned to the position by the Production Geology Coordinators;
  • Lay out ore packets, “no dig” and “blast limit” lines when necessary and refresh as needed;
  • Install and recover BMMs (Blast Movement Monitoring balls);
  • Assist the production geologists with the management of the OP delineation drilling campaign by participating in tasks such as handling core boxes, sampling drill core and diamond drill inspections;
  • Liaise with the production geologists and Mine-Ops to ensure that contacts are respected, and ore material is moved to the appropriate destinations;
  • Collect blast holes samples and drop them at the assay lab in a timely manner;
  • Sample muck faces and/or test stockpiles;
  • Assist with the production geology activities such that files, maps, and records are accurate and up to date in a timely manner;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Science Technology (Geological/Mining or equivalent is considered an asset);
  • Experience with surveying practices and equipment is considered an asset;
  • Experience in mining (open pit experience) is considered an asset;
  • Qualify for an Approval Letter for access to Explosives (or equivalent);
  • Willing to work all four seasons outside in Arctic conditions (experience in the Arctic is considered an asset);
  • Ability and willingness to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
