Job Description

We have openings for Rotary Wing Academic and Flight Training Device (FTD) in Southport Manitoba in support of the DND’s Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) program. Instructors report to the Chief Rotary Wing Instructor (Southport) and will be assigned duties commensurate with their qualifications and on-site requirements.


  • Deliver ground school lectures,
  • Deliver FTD lessons, and
  • Carry out maintenance test flights as required.


  • TC Commercial Pilots License, endorsed on B206 (B412 an asset);
  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance, enhanced reliability;
  • Must hold a valid Canadian Passport or Visa (this position is not available for sponsorship)
  • Must obtain and maintain a CHL Access to Controlled Goods authorization;
  • TC medical;
  • TC Instructor Rating;
  • This requirement is waived for former RCAF pilots who:
  • Have held at least a B category QFI rating on helicopters;
  • Have accumulated at least 200 instructional hours as an Instructor Pilot at a helicopter Operational Training Unit;
  • Have qualified as an Aircraft Captain with at least 500 hours on helicopters; or
  • Have an equivalent foreign military instructor rating recognized by DND
  • TC Class IV Instrument Rating preferable;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Current/former RCAF
