Working as a Senior Agribusiness Development Officer you will:

  • Undertake purposeful regional engagement identifying and connecting industry with opportunity, focusing on driving the rural economic development agenda
  • Support opportunities for sustainable development, diversification and growth of agriculture systems and associated supply/value chains through the identification of opportunities, issues, solutions
  • Collect and document on the ground intelligence within your geographical area of responsibility including agricultural impacts during times of adverse events or natural disasters

What you will do

As our Senior Agribusiness Development Officer, you will:

  • Engage widely to establish and maintain effective relationships with DAF stakeholders in the region.
  • Work with industry and across the value chain to identify opportunities for increased performance productivity and efficiency, and improved resilience and sustainability in order to generate greater value for the sector and the economy as a whole.
  • Utilise and develop networks, including within DAF and other state agencies to deliver a suite of services to help industry and enterprises solve their problems and grow their business and the regional economy.
  • Identify new agricultural industry development opportunities specific to the region and develop projects and multidisciplinary teams to respond to, and deliver on, these opportunities.
  • Communicate with influence with external clients and within DAF and other State agencies, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare and contribute to the preparation of high-quality corporate documentation to communicate with influence.
  • Contribute as part of the DAF disaster response to quantify impacts and ensure that agribusinesses recover quickly following a disaster event.

What you will bring

Essential requirements

  • Ability to work from the Longreach DAF office
  • Knowledge of Agriculture across the Boulia, Diamantina, Winton, Barcoo, Longreach, Blackall-Tambo and Barcaldine Regional Council areas
  • Knowledge of various agricultural production systems and ability to apply this knowledge for economic growth
  • Ability to travel and undertake work remotely
  • C class driving licence
