What is the role?

Tenure: Permanent Full Time

The Infrastructure Development Team in Defence West is looking for a highly motivated individual to be part of delivering Strategic Infrastructure as part of the Western Australian Defence Strategy Program.

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic and capable team working on exciting projects with a focus on, but not limited to, the development of the Australian Marine Complex at Henderson. Making a significant contribution to increasing investment in WA’s economy and creating jobs for Western Australians, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of priority projects and influencing the development of infrastructure that is critical to the Nation’s interests.

Recent Australian Government announcements of the Defence Strategic Review and the trilateral Australia, United Kingdom and United States (AUKUS) security agreement have highlighted the importance of Western Australia and enhanced infrastructure. The effective identification of Western Australia as the ‘Tip of the Spear’ in delivering world leading improved submarine capability through Submarine Force West. All of this creates exciting opportunities for developing infrastructure in the State to support National security.

As a Senior Project Officer in the Team, you will be responsible to the Director for the provision of project support. Contributing significantly to the effective planning and management of complex infrastructure projects, you will provide a high level of stakeholder engagement and advice in relation to project facilitation. In this role, you will analyse, research and advise on new project proposals as well as oversee current projects. This will involve drafting Ministerial documents, drafting reports, approving invoices, managing contracts and maintaining spreadsheets.
