Reporting to the Manager Information Technology within the Health Information Unit (HIU), the Systems Coordinator defines and advises on the status and requirements of health-related computer solutions to address business requirements, creates and maintains project documents and meets strategic organizational goals. The position has a role in the selection, implementation, and support of new and existing software applications. The Coordinator also works closely with the Clinical Information Specialist and Clinical Systems Analyst in building and implementing the clinical workflows, as well as the implementation, configuration, and optimization of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.

The Coordinator is a member of the eHealth team of the HIU, with a specific focus on clinical information systems. The HIU is the core division within the Department of Health responsible for the planning, deployment, management, protection, and support of health information systems. The position operates within a Territorial environment with emphasis on day-to-day operations of the EHR system software as well as a project focus on the control and coordination of project performance and economic utilization of resources assigned to the project, in-depth system and business analysis and defining business requirements. The Coordinator also undertakes project and operational support work which will have significant impact on the client department and implications that could affect the level of care for the Nunavut residents.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized degree in health discipline, health informatics or related field along with two (2) years’ experience working with health information systems. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
