Requirements:

• The worker must possess 3 months of tree fruit experience.
• Must be able to lift and/or load 60 lbs. 4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, fruit containers, etc.
• Require workers to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, weeding, transporting, pruning, etc.
• Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris, etc.
• There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example, picking, sorting, pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc.

PEAR Harves Duties:

• The worker will harvest pears by hand.
• This can be done from a motorized platform, the ground or from a ladder.
• The worker will attach harnesses, bags or buckets and pick low-hanging fruit while standing at the ground.
• Higher branches are picked while standing up on a ladder. The Worker will select according to color, size and grade by picking fruit using their hands.
• They should remove the fruit from the tree with a gentle motion to avoid damaging adjacent buds. The Worker must carry a harness, bucket, or bag weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Fruit will be placed into bins made of wood or plastic, varying in size.
• To prevent fruit from being bruised or branches breaking, the worker must take care at all times.
• The Worker might be required to sort fruit that does not meet the specifications for color, size and grade.
• The Worker should be able to lift and handle an orchard ladder up to 12 feet in height, weighing 40 pounds.
• THINNING is a manual procedure used to control fruit size and quality.
• The worker must be able to lift and handle an orchard ladder that weighs 40 pounds.
• The Worker should also be able use scissors.
• The Worker must remove the smallest blossom, bud, or identifiable fruit within a cluster.
• As directed by supervisors, the Worker is expected to be capable of identifying and removing fruit that has been damaged or misshapen.
• The worker may thin from a motorized or manual platform, from the ground, or from a ladder.
